Lobsang Palden, 20, set himself on fire on the sixth anniversary of a deadly crackdown by Chinese authorities on Tibetans in Ngaba. He set himself on fire on the main road in Ngaba and shouted protest slogans while he was on fire and before Chinese security forces rushed to the scene, doused the flames and took him away.
His whereabouts and condition are currently unknown. Reports state that Palden left behind a written and a voice message in which he called for unity among Tibetans and sincerity in whatever they strive to achieve.
